They both continuously delay games, but gamers love them anyway. I know they aren't the same, but there are striking similarities between the two companies.
They both have one thing in common... They've earned the right, both critically and financially to take as much time as the want on their games. Neither company, in the grand scheme of things, has ever released a bad game. Since they both are rolling in money, and act completely independently from anybody, they have the ability to take as much time as they see fit, and some times decide to cancel a game (Starcraft Ghost) if the quality just doesn't meet their standard.
I've said this before, but delays never bother me, and I wish more companies would do it. I would always prefer a more polished game, than a game right now. I would love to play Mass Effect 2 right now, but I don't mind them taking their time to make it, because I want it to be good. I mean, Jesus, it's not like I don't have a bookshelf filled with games I've never even opened that I still want to play. And that's not even including games I haven't bought, but still want to play, even going back to the 1980's.
That's what I don't understand. With a back catalog of games that goes back 30+ years, why do people feel they NEED new releases? Why do people lose their mind when companies delay games? I see nothing but despair over the recent rash 2010 delays, but I welcome it open arms. There's so many games I want to play that I feel like I'll never have a chance to play, and If I can get some free time to actually play them, then thank god to be honest. I'm actually kind of dreading the day MW2 comes out, because I know I'll probably play nothing but that for the six months that follow it's release.
Anyway, with all that said, let us feign surprise at Starcraft II getting delayed...
