In the United States, the usual oath required of all those who will give witness in court asks: "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"


How do you answer that if you don't believe in god.

There's a separate oath for non-religious people. It's not so much an oath about being religious, but getting your word that you will tell the truth by swearing on something you value.

I never knew that, I learn something new every day.
I always thought that It was the same oath for everyone.

Two of my friends went to law school I should have known that.
