The Pacific: From the makers of Band of Brothers

Ditto Mr.Froe most movies and documentaries I've seen have mostly been based within the European theater. [BLACKOUT]Sorta had the Omaha beach image in my head when they were landing. Expected a huge cluster fuck beach battle again. Caught me off guard but not in a negative way or anything.[/BLACKOUT]

Same here xD The way that scene was building up made me feel like a huge gunfight was up ahead. Great episode though, looking forward to the next one.

6 EP's aired so far so anyone have any new opinions or questions?

Eugene Sledge is allot more likable at this stage in my opinion showing allot more possibility of not being so damn useless. Also Andy/Chat brought up a good observation on IRC a few days ago about how the depicted image of time was a bit off when they where relieved from Guadalcanal and arrived in Melbourne, Australia. History books date this relief period as being around 7-8 months, EP3 seemed to show a rather short relief period of around a few months at most. (Eugene Sledge enlisted training period to deployment foreshadowed a long period but can easily be overlooked by some -EP4)

So far its still a great series. Must watch

I'm a bit disappointed that the series hasn't had as much action as I'd have hoped. I guess after Band of Brothers it has a lot to live up to and obviously they didn't have the help of a book to go with this time around. I definitely haven't got the feeling that I 'know' the characters like I did with BoB.

It's based on two books. One written by Sledge and the other written by Leckie.

Imagining that BoB was never made, I think this mini-series can stand on it's own legs.

No HBO so hoping part 10 shows up "around" tonight. If not ill catch it tomorrow..

It was a good episode.

[BLACKOUT]They are all dead now. Except for Sledge's friend from home and two guys I don't remember.[/BLACKOUT]
