Everyone knows Sony has been losing titles left and right that were once exclusive to the PlayStation brand. Games such as Ace Combat 6, Devil May Cry 4, Beautiful Katamari, Virtua Fighter 5, and others. Obviously, these losses are mostly due to the PlayStation 3's relatively low userbase and that Microsoft forked over the big bucks for certain Xbox 360 exclusives.
One thing is for sure, Sony won't stoop down to Microsoft's level. They don't "buy" exclusives. Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton, explains:
[blockquote2]We have a very different approach to exclusives than some of our competitors. We don't buy exclusivity. We don't fund development. We don't, for lack of a better term, bribe somebody to only do a game on our platform. We earn it...[/blockquote2]
He then went on to dish out damage to Nintendo:
[blockquote2]Microsoft is too dependent on the third-party community, and Nintendo is too depended on first-party. We like to feel that we got a pretty good mix.[/blockquote2]
Strong words for a company that is technically third place in the console war right now, sales-wise. Guess we'll see if Sony's stance on not buying exclusives fares them well over the next year.
