While we were at E3 this year I managed to witness a lengthy demonstration of F.3.A.R and recorded it for you to enjoy. The video, which is in two parts, has about 15 minutes of gameplay footage showing off the new co-operative mode. Oh dear...it looks awful to be honest. :|

I'm going to reserve judgement until a demo (if there is one). From what I saw, and from what you guys can see in the video, I thought it looked pretty decent. However I don't think I'll find myself playing co-operatively or even using that guy with those weird powers. I just want to shoot people in slow motion and blow heads off, is that too much to ask for?

They're really focusing on the horror aspect of the game now, something of which I think no one really cares about. F.E.A.R hasn't done anything to revolutionize the horror video game "genre" and would need to if it wants to succeed as such.

The gunplay segments look solid. All the supernatural power stuff is a turn off, though. From what I've seen so far, there's nothing that strikes me as scary. More tension-filled I'd say, but nearly every shooter is. The environments look rather generic, too.

The horror genre just doesn't work as well from a first-person perspective IMO. I have yet to see any FPS on par with the scare factor of, say, Silent Hill. A third-person perspective gives the developer more control over camera angles and such. The freedom that's allowed in first-person makes it difficult to intercept how the player will react.
