Currently in the legal crosshairs of SCEA, famed hacker George "Geohot" Hotz will appear on G4TV's 'Attack of the Show' later tonight at 7 p.m. EST, as revealed on his official site. We'll update this with a link to the video once it's live.

In related court drama, today's filings indicate that the hearing date for Sony's motion to place a temporary restraining order on Hotz has been pushed back by a day[...]

Yeah...I'm not a fan of his antics (asking Sony to give him a job mainly)

Yeah, same with me, but I think he should be trying to draw attention to this, I think the more people that know about this then the better it will turn out. He or fail0verflow haven't broken any laws, that's obvious right, but Sony's trying to intimidate, not just them but anyone that might come after with the same intention. Also, if Sony wins this then that's just less rights for every consumer.

If they had broken any law then you could be sure that they would have had Sony's legal team after them in a much nastier way than just "Please take down the tools and data"

I just looked on my DVR and Hotz isn't listed in the summary for today's episode of "Attack of the Show." Weird. Also, I haven't been following the scene too closely and, though I should search around (which I'll do after submitting this), what do I need apart from the jailbreak.zip hosted on Geohotz's website? I thought I've heard something about a package installer. Can anyone tell me where to find that? Thanks.

Believe you're looking for this: http://exophase.com/20605/first-proof-of-concept-ps3-custom-firmware-released/ (CFW that allows package installation)

Geohot really did an amazing thing here, he made a statement on the network that shows Cheaters and Cops 20 hours a day - now the public interest will REALLY take his side.

Link?

Thanks Ipaq. Does anyone know if Sony has begun taking action against "jailbroken" hardware yet? Also, does anyone have an idea where the most... significant... PS3 homebrew community is right now (not that there's much of anything)? This brings back memories of QJ.NET and the PSP scene.
I really lol'd as well at that comment. That'll just infuriate Sony more.

So the hearing was this morning, does anyone know how long these types of hearings take?

It depends, I would say probably a couple hours at most, it should be over by now. No filing updates yet though.

Update from geohot.com:

"As of 2:00 PM EST, 1/14/2011, I am not subject to any TROs"

That was a weird interview, he basically took credit for all work on the PS3 instead of crediting FailOverfl0w & co.
