Upgrading 3.52 M33 to 3.52 M33-2

Hello (^_^)/

I checked the guides and used search, but I couldn't find the answers to my question. Sorry if it is already answered.

I'm on 3.52 M33. I want to get up to 4.01 but, as I understand it, I'll have to go to 3.52 M33-3, then 3.80, then 4.01. I wasn't sure if I could skip 3.52-2 since 3.52-3 has no instructions in the read me.

So, on the 3.52-2 readme, it says:

"Instructions: copy seplugins to the root of the memory stick. Extract the following prx of a firmware: /kd/popsman.prx, /kd/pops.prx, /vsh/modules/libpspvmc.prx and /vsh/modules/pafmini.prx and copy them to /seplugins/popsloader/ with names like popsman3XX, pops3XX.prx, libpspvmc3XX.prx, pafmini3XX.prx, where XX is 40, 51, or 52."

I don't understand what this is talking about. I considered just using the eboot, but I was afraid ignoring this could cause problems.

So what does that mean o_O?

The read me you are reading is to extract files for a Popsloader (PS1 Emulator).

I do not think the updates as -2,-3,-4 are required to move up FW's.

Do you have a pandora Battery? If not create one and a MMS. Hit the Ultra pandora tool in my sig - great app that holds all the tools you need.

Follow the read me and you can go straight to 4.01 M33.

If you would rather avoid pandora you can go 3,52>3,71>3.90>4.01 by dropping the updates into your GAME folder. Its a lot slower though!

Thanks January.

I haven't looked into the Pandora Battery at all. Does that involve buying a physical battery called Pandora or is it just a program?

Well, I ignored the seplugins folders and just used the updates. I'm on 3.52 M33-4, however when I try to install 3.80, it tells me that it requires 3.52 M33-3 or higher. Doesn't make much sense.

I looked into going the way you mentioned(3.52>3.71>3.90>4.01). In the readme for 3.71, it mentions that fat PSP users need to change the kernel to 3.xx.

"If you are in the fat psp, make sure you have configured the psp to run the game folder in the 3.XX kernel."

I'm afraid I haven't done that, so I don't want to run the update. What does that mean exactly?

question ihave a 4.01 ver for the firm ware will i be able to use the psptube

if it can support the 4.xx kernel. Never used it.

Thanks January.

Pandora is generally a soft modded battery done via a program (although hard modded for the later slims) so it can run a custom IPL meaning the PSP will boot from the MS as oppossed to the NAND (internal memory). It kinda re-routes the EEPROM of the battery. Wikipedia it for the full & concise explanation.

Change the kernel in the recovery mode to 3.XX, it sounds like it is currently on the 1.50 kernel.

It means nothing bad, do not panic. The kernel is kinda the basis for the operating platform in simple terms. Make the switch in Recovery and it will be fine.

You do not need the SEplugins folder unless you plan on using Plugins, if you decided to at a later stage simply re-create manually a SEplugins folder.

Follow the read me's and all will be good, but if you are still worried after that you may want to think about staying on OFW. :w00t:

Mods - Apologies for the double posting. eek

Awesome, I'm now on 4.01 M33-2. =D

Thanks January.

No Problem - Thats what we are here for. Glad you made the switch and got sorted.
