According to a GI.biz piece, Valve offered to release a downloadable version of its award-winning title Portal on the 360's Xbox Live Arcade service. Apparently, though, Microsoft wasn't too keen on the idea and subsequently rejected the offer. Why? Valve marketing head Doug Lombardi explains:[blockquote2]I'd love to sell Portal on Xbox Live. [But] the platform holders aren't doing that right now. There's a size limit and all kinds of other things.
We've asked them, we said we were open to it. So it's a decision for the platform holder and how they want to make the games available and how much bandwidth they want to [allow].[/blockquote2]File size limits, eh. Microsoft seem to be fairly lenient with the 150MB size cap, allowing Capcom to exceed the imposed size limit in two of its Live Arcade titles. However, in the case of Portal, they may have not been willing to budge since it is already available via retail as part of The Orange Box.
