Want to see my beer? ;)

40 Pints of my home made beer, works out at about 35p a pint :w00t: admittedly it does not look very appetising (at the moment) but i am hopeful it will taste better than it looks and smells as it stinks of eggs right now (apparently that is the yeast reacting with the sugar)

From advice i have it looks normal for the stage it is at, Just need to wait 1-2 months before i can drink it

Looks very hygenic :p

None the less brewing beer is an awesome idea and I have no idea why I haven't done it yet (expecially since I used to grow cannabis with a really nice setup).

I have to look into this.

My Granddad used to make wine in our house and hide it in the airing cupboard. I shortly followed suit and made some too, it was actually really nice. This looks pretty cool too.

Do you not have to store the beer anywhere, or are you just leaving it in a corner?

Yeah, i have tried that too and got very good results :)

Well, what i gather is the temp is important, this should be constant. The corner stays a constant 22 which is within the parameters advised on the instructions so.....

The closer to 27 you get it the faster the whole process goes, conversely the closer to 21 you get the slower it takes. Proof is in the testing i suppose.

Yes, seems to cover it pretty much - I think essentially it boils down to a few things.

1. Everything is sterile
2. Quality ingredients
3. Patience

I have used a pre made wort with mine to start off, but the whole point of this exercise was to gain experience so i could make a hoegaarden clone beer.

I used this - http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/index.php/coopers-european-lager-1-7kg.html

I felt as a newbie brewer (i love that) start simple and build up.

It takes 2 months to make beer? Damn :/

I know :( cider though can be drunk in 3 weeks though. Hardly fast though, lol

I'm assuming you meant made in 3 weeks, think I might try that when I get back home. I'm not a huge beer drinker, but I'm crazy about cider, actually drinking a Gaymers Pear Cider right now.

I hope it turns out nicer than it looks right now, should be quite rewarding once it's done. Cool project.

Cheers :) It dont look to good really now, but every day it looks more like the real thing - almost ready to bottle it now and i have been told if you get the whole thing right it is as good as any other bottled beer. Hmmm, not sure i will hit that grade but next time...

The cider thing, is my next project - once bottled you can drink after 3 weeks (longer it is left tho the better). this one is the one i have, http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/index.php/blackrock-cider.html

If my parents would agree to let me do this then I would definitely give it a go... but they won't. xD It must be kind of rewarding brewing your own beer, especially if you and others enjoy it.

Thank you, I'm so doing this when I get the chance.

Ok all, the beer is finished. It ideally shopuld be left 4-6 weeks, but i just had to open one after 2 weeks - tastes great and looks much better now. Not got much head on it though but i am told i used too much white sugar...Ho Hum. at 30p a pint im all good

Got cider on the go now :p Ignore the glass i had drank half of it when i thought to get a piccie going.

Oooh, nice one. Hate beer myself but kudos for making it yourself. Wonder if it's possible to make homemade rum. Cider I'd definitely wanna give a go at. Constant temperature might be a problem though :\

You would be surprised, mine is at about 20 and that's just room temp, from what i know that is fine.

My room though varies between ~14C and ~22C depending on if I leave the windows open or leave my computer on

Stick it in your parents room then :p You must be warm blooded as well

Ha ha, she won't mind - I am certain she will see the benefits, lol. After all, who wouldn't want 25 ltrs of beer in their room? :p
