Right guys here is the situation, I'm 16 and I'm around 5ft 9, i weigh 8stone, and have done for the last 3 years ish, i want to put weight on so i can start going to the gym and getting a good amount of muscle on me, people say eat more calories but i just dont put weight on.

It's Probably because you have a high Metabolism since you are still a teenager and are still growing. first page on a google search does have alot of good advice

ive read it all already but i wanna hear it from people who have been in the same boat and what they did, im really considering weight gain but its so expensive!

Serious weightlifting will get you the mass you desire then protein shakes after the workout. Eating 5-6 times a day or every 2- 2 1/2 hours really helps
steak, eggs, potatoes, fruits, veg, crap like that.
Not monstrous meals but good portions is good.

Work biceps triceps and shoulders 2-3 hours then cardio say on a monday
chest and abs then cardio on tuesday
wed can be legs ankles cardio etc.
thurs. can be rest day
Fri biceps triceps and shoulders
Sat. chest and abs
Sun legs ankles

That is how I am. I can eat anything I want, all day and not gain a pound.
But when I workout, I notice a increase in weight.

So as mentioned above, weight train, drink some protein shakes, and eat about 5 small healthy portions throughout the day.

Solution: Healthy fats. I know it sounds like a oxymoron, but eat foods that are filling. Eat lots and lots and don't hesitate.

Gain about 10 pounds.

Once accomplished, hit up the gym. First start slow, like jogging. Then start to work out your biceps, following triceps, and then finish through with your core.
I gained A LOT of muscle by doing this. Once accomplished, continue to stay fit and eat healthy again.

I'm 6 4" weight about 70kg,when i calculated my BMI it said normal but i'm really skinny..I eat more than anyone else but still the same.I thought about getting Whey to increase my muscle mass.

I wouldn't bother doing a whole lot of cardio is your looking to put on weight. Maybe something to get the heart going at first, but weight training will have you putting on the pounds if done right.

Bodybuilding.com is your friend. Seek it out.

When I started Lifting weights I weighed barely more than 135. And after a Year I weight 157.
It's not a terribly big increase but i've had a few setbacks.

I'm happy though. Very.

Be careful what you wish for. I was the same at your age but I really didn't worry about it and just wanted to be a little more "chubby". Next thing I know I was becoming fat as f* and so I decided to be a little more careful. I'm a little overweight now, but nothing I can't work out.

thanks for the help guys, i invested in some weights last week and i'd like to put them to good use, i'll invest in some protein shakes and start eating healthy, it'll take a while i know but ill see if i do start putting on weight and report back here :)

Eat vegetables and protein, and avoid fats. I've lost like 20 pounds of fat thus far (Over the past couple years I put on weight slowly, and I lost it).

Protein is your friend and vegetables usually if you get enough can make you have more energy to burn on the weights, that and of course they're awesome for your health.

Quick question. For items like Whey, do you take it before or after you work out? How does it work, and what exactly are the advantages?

When's the best time to drink a protein shake?

Most experts recommend taking protein shakes in two servings: one an hour or so before you train, and another dose immediately after training to help repair muscle damage and fuel the growth of new muscle tissue. Protein shakes are a great way of getting protein in to your system, and is quickly absorbed by the body. Protein shakes are also a quick and easy way to consume the supplement, making it ideal for people on the go.
