What is Idstorage?

Consider Idstorage as a source of volatile data. The Idstorage is located in the IPL.

What is the IPL?

The word IPL was invented by IBM to fulfill the needs of System/360. The IPL or Initial Program Load, is a hardware function (and not a program) ,
launched from the system itself. A predefined input/output command is initialised, launching the loading of a start-up program, without the need
of a routine predefined bootstrap. The Idstorage is therefore located in the IPL, that is to say in the NAND of the PSP System.

And what is the NAND?

Consider the NAND as a non volatile flash memory, which, via a system of injection and liberation tunneling, allows the reading and writing of this flash.

What does the Idstorage contain?

The Idstorage contains a lot of information about the PSP : serial number, MAC address, PSP Region, UMD Reader Region, type of motherboard ...
It's the Idstorage of the PSP that gives us all the available information about the PSP
