Yet another noob with problems in homebrew

i apologize for my noobness outright
ok
installed the homebrew channel , using the banner bomb method,it looks like it loads ..
No apps listing and my wii backup disc of a favorite scratched to hell game ,wont run and im just sitting here with three question marks over my head
what did i miss
when machine is powered it goes to botmii and when homebrew channel is on all i see is bubles and two icons at the bottom .. one flashes for a little bit and that it
Yes- i got the warning at the begining during both installs
Yes- when i press 1 i do see a screen listing internal memory in black and two gecko drives in grey as well as something else as well as prompts for organizing apps listings
but again i see no apps no dvds play and i have tried to reinstall with no troubles
The only change i made during reinstall is booting bootmii to boot 1 instead of 2
Lastly its a first gen wii that isnt played often at all so the firmware should be ancient

it would seem i have been thwarted by the one i intended to help.. seem the version is 4.1u

just trying to find out if HBC was properly installed
like i said i see no bubbles
i changed boot mii to boot 2 and it shows up top menu
and tin the regular menu [when 1 is pressed] shows options for drives only selctable one is internal memory and unslectable are three other drives two i think are geckos
theres options to organize apps but no apps
and regular dvd s dont play though dvdx is installed

told a usb loader is needd idk
