It'd be me and the missus going and I don't think she'd like staying at someone's house that she doesn't know but cheers. Checking out flights, hostels, etc and it'd come up to about
They have a completely different sound to Periphery, whilst still maintaining that groove aspect. Most 'Djent' bands out there really do sound the same though.
Ohhhh nice! That will be helpful if I ever make a cover of that song haha
I'm kinda excited/nervous, playing a gig at a club next friday with my band, it will be my first time performing with them, and my second time ever playing live. My only other time was at a High school talent show and this is at a club/bar with all strangers so I am much more nervous haha.
HOLY SHIT Got free tickets to System of a Down yesterday and me and my friend went, probably one of the best live performances I have EVER seen, amazing!
Hey guys, can you please check out my dual cover of 2012 - The Word Alive? I did the instrumental and my friend did the vocals, and I think it turned out really awesome, heavier than the original even
Yep, still using my GX, and I use EZDrummer with the Meshuggah/Metalheads add-on for drums haha. And I just re-borrowed a bass from my friend so I can have real bass in my covers again yayy!
Yeah haha I replied on soundcloud as well, but what I use is the following:
Ibanez RG7321 thru a Line 6 POD Studio GX with Podfarm 2 (Bulb's distortion patch). I then do a tiny bit of EQ'ing in Reaper, because I still don't really know what to do with it haha.
As for the actual recording process, I record the rythm track twice and pan one hard right, the other hard left. If there are any lead guitar parts those go in the center. Bass also goes in the center, and is recorded using the same thing as for guitar, but with more EQ'ing and a different patch in POD farm.
Drums are saved as a MIDI, and then I apply EZdrummer to the midi file (usually using the metalheads expansion) and do some EQ'ing to make the kick, snare, and toms sound better. Synths are done with a plugin called PoiZone, similar fashion to drums, MIDI file, then it is applied to that.
If you want more details just ask haha. I've been thinking of making a video tutorial on how I do all this stuff because I get a lot of questions, and it would also let people give me advice on what to do different more easily
Yeah do it. I've had that EXACT setup in mind for quite a while (can't afford the RG7321 just yet, cheapest 7 I can find though), it'd be a great help if you showed me how to do it
Haha alright, any recommendations for a good screen capturing video recorder thingy? If you know what I mean haha?
I'm trying out "Jing" right now
Ok, theres about 5 videos, they will be uploaded soon, sorry for sounding like a complete retard in all of them haha, but I did my best and tried to explain everything I think is important, hopefully it will help you guys out!
Yeah I heard that earlier today, pretty cool! And it will most definitely be a good day for metal haha, I'm in withdrawal from the amazing March metal we got lol
Yeah I can if someone can tell me how to convert .swf files to .avi or something, the stupid screen cap program I used recorded everything as .swf because of small file size
