PSX games that ran on 3.03OE-C, report corrupt on 3.40OE-A.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forurm so be gentle please

I was happily running 3.03OE-c for a few weeks, and today upgraded to 3.40OE-a due to the supposed PSX compatability increase.

My ISO's (of games I own ofc) are running fine, but now my EBOOT games are failing to run and are giving a "this game is corrupt" messege. They show up in the menu and have their pics and sounds, but just wont run. Do I need to make a new EBOOT? Although i dont see what that would change...

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks again

The EBOOT games are PSone titles, correct?

try converting one of the non-working games with PSX2PSP and see if it fixes the issue:

endy: well if you are positive the files are named correctly then it is a problem with your memory stick. try formatting it.

Well the same games were working fine today under 3.03OE-c. I don't see how converting them again will resolve the problem, but I'll give it a try anyway. I will reformat my card as you suggested, and I will also try my other memory stick.

My emu's work as before, it just seems really strange how a supposedly "more compatible" firmware doesnt run the same EBOOTs as an earlier version.

Thankyou for your reply, I am very grateful. I will let you know how your suggestions turn out

Oh and yes, they are PSone games, FFVII to be precise. But other (PS1) games that were previously working under 3.03OE-c, are now NOT working under 3.40OE-a. Thanks again.

OK, i tried making the EBOOTs again from my original disks - same results; games wont load, and the system tells me they're corrupt.

I have now reinstalled the 3.03OE-c FW and the very same EBOOTs are working perfectly as before.

For now I will stick to this FW revision as it allows me to play the wonderful FFVII, which is all I've ever wanted the psp to do!

The only reason I had for upgrading to 3.40OE-a was because I read on another forum that some users had got Resident Evil 2 and Parasite Eve 2 (two games I'd love to play) working under that FW, by changing the game IDs.

Thanks for your help x3sphere, it is appreciated. I would still like to know what was wrong, but for now for now I am content with FFVII.

Keep up the good work,

Peace.

You should try RE2 with the changed game IDs in 3.03. I think it would work.

Hey there everyone,

I have my PSP upgraded to 3.02A of Dark Alex's firm wares and I was wondering what I have to do to get it up to date with 3.40. Can I go directly to it or do I have to upgrade in a chain like 3.02 > 3.10 > 3.30 > 3.40.

Thanks,

Mirado

I did try it with the recommended game ID of SLPS 01222, but it still crashed at the police station. Maybe ill try some other game IDs at some point, as that very ID got Front Mission 3 working for me. Just a case of trial and error I suppose.

Thanks for the advice

Peace

At Mirado; Yes, you should be able to just flash to 3.40OE from any previous OE FW.

Ah endy im having your problem too, my psp seems to be blind even though i did everything right. try to find a 3.40 winstaller, it helps you to place everything at the right places, and you only have to do the final step, but all i get i "not existing or corrupt dxar file". argh.

hi guys, noob here, i have just tried to install 3.40 OE-A from the install guide,
everything went perfect and it sed press X to reboot and it shut off.
now when i turn it on all i get is black screen and no sound, so i think i may have bricked it or is there somethin that i am missing?
PLZ help
many thanx

PS. I have jus turned it on and pressed R to go into recovery mode, which it did. So it might just be a semi-brick, but i dont no how to use recovery mode so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recovery guide is here

but I don't think you bricked. by any chance do you have a UMD in the drive? try removing it.

Nevermind, for retards like me - the link is in the first POST ...

how do you get these?, i run 1.50, i got the data.dxar file okay, but nothing changed other than that, this is what i have after step 3

folder aeupdmaker/
-eboot.pbp
-150.pbp
-340.pbp
-data.dxar

folder aeupdmaker%/
-eboot.pbp

So how do u do this?
4. Copy 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE

340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% are two folders that should be in the archive. You just need to copy those over to your GAME folder.

Here is a step by step guide for installing 3.40 OE-A. Please note that you must be running 1.50, or any of the OE series firmware to begin this installation.

First grab the 3.40 OE-A files.

1. Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE.

2. Now download the 1.50 and 3.40 updates which you can grab below:
1.50 Update
3.40 Update

3. Place these 2 updates in the oeupdmaker folder and ensure they are named exactly like this 150.PBP and 340.PBP. Now navigate to the game menu on your PSP and execute the update maker. It will take a few minutes to create the file, once finished a DATA.DXAR will be found in the oeupdmaker folder.

Please note: If you get an error message that says "Invalid SHA-1" when creating the DXAR do not proceed further. This means you have a faulty memory stick and a corrupt DATA.DXAR was created. Start over using a different memory stick.

4. Copy 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE.

5. Copy the DATA.DXAR created in step 3 to the 340oeflasher folder.

6. Navigate to the game menu on your PSP, run the 3.40 OE-A flasher and follow the on screen instructions. Once done your PSP will now be running 3.40 OE-A :)

Okay, i have 1.50, I downloaded all the files and did everything right. But when it gets to extracting and packaging 3.40 it takes FOREVER. So i reformated and everything and it still just takes forever. What can i do?

try with a different memory stick. something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced. some users have reported success in situations like this but it took them like 5 hours to create the dxar.
