3.40 OE-A Install Guide

Hey guys...first time posting.
I think I bricked my psp :blushing:

I had 2.71 and successfully downgraded to 1.5
Then I followed the directions to upgrade to 3.4

So Im on the final step where it says to run the 3.4 flasher and it gives me the warning to either press x or R
So I press X...then there was about 8 lines that said "Panic ...... "

then it said Reading...Done

and under Writing it stayed at 0% and didn't do anything for 20 minutes.
So I turned off the PSP and now It wont turn on.

Nothing will show up when I hold R and turn it on.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Are you sure it said "Panic ...... " because I doubt that that is even coded into the flasher.

yea it said panic for about 8 lines
then Reading...Done
and Writing 0%

It had Panic and some other info
Well assuming you are telling the truth I can tell you that your psp is bricked if the green light is on but you cant see anything

Definitely bricked.
The light stays green for about 20 seconds and then just shuts off.

I wasn't even going to upgrade the stupid thing but I tried my first game (virtua tennis) and it said I needed version 3.03 or higher to play the game. So i decided to upgrade since it seemed so simple. I don't know what could've happend.
I have another psp with 2.6 software but now I don't even want to mess with it

sorry to hear :/ I don't think it was a user error or a problem with the OE flasher, but something just happened to go wrong. This is the first time I've heard of someone getting that error message though. I will let D_A know about this.

i think possibly malware....if it was downloaded from D_A's site then it should of been fine and if guides on the forums were followed as well.

You skipped a lot of steps in your explanation of what happened... maybe start by listing EXACTLY what files you got and the steps you took. 66% of bricks are due to people accidentally skipping a step, or doing two steps in the wrong order. Another 33% are due to fake memsticks. The last 1% is a mix of unknown and bad luck.

I will try to post exactly what I did.
First I followed this tutuorial to go back to 1.50

Everything worked fine.
Then I loaded Virtua Tennis on my 512MB card (since it was the only iso i could fit) and it said I need 3.03 or higher in order to play that game.
So I searched to see how I could do this which lead me to this Tutorial.

I download 3.4 launcher 1.50 update and 3.40 update and copied and pasted all the folders as it was stated in the tutorial.

Then I copied the data.dxr file into PSP/Game folder in the PSP Memory stick (maybe I should have made a folder called Game150?)

Then I went to Game in the PSP and launched the 3.40 flasher and it asked me if I was sure I wanted to continue so I pressed X for yes.

Then it said "panic...." and it seemed like it was creating some files or folders

Then more towards the bottom it said Reading ....Done and Writing .....0%

I doubt it can get fixed. I will try calling Sony to see how much they charge to fix it.

Your PSP hath gotten own't. Sorry to hear that, broseph. Where did you download the files to downgrade and upgrade? What motherboard was the PSP that got own't? (If the MoBo actually matters or not I do not know)

The DXAR file is supposed to go into the PSP/GAME/oeflasher directory, not the PSP/GAME directory. If it wasn't in the expected directory, maybe that was the issue. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a program go wonky when an expected file wasn't found.

GAME150 is only once you have custom firmware, by the way. From plain 1.5, you use GAME for all homebrew.

Hi !
I can need some help. First: Nice guide, works perfect. But: Can't get many things to work. Games were not found or didn`t work (e.g. black screens). I consider to go back to 3.03 OE-B which works fine. Anybody else with this (bad) things ?

first, ensure that your settings in recovery mode (hold R during bootup) match these:

Use NO-UMD: Disabled
Plain modules in UMD/ISO: Disabled
Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO: Disabled
Use isofs driver also in UMD-inserted mode: Disabled

and also make sure you have a UMD inserted in the drive.

I am currently running 3.10 OE-A, do I have to downgrade this firmware to another firmware, or can I go straight ahead and upgrade to 3.40 OE-A.

you can upgrade straight from any OE firmware to another. Just follow the upgrade instructions carefully and everything will be ok.

Error when trying to install 3.40 E-A

I have the original 1.50 firmware and I followed the tutorial to the letter but when I try to use the updater it gives me a "The game could not be started" error 80010002. The file below the updater says "corrupted data" if that helps. Any suggestions/help?

I have got this installed on my psp, on my 1 gig mem stick, when it was wiped, all the folders are there for the homebrew, I bought a 4gig mem stick for it, will I have to reflash my psp? It shows I have 3.40 OE-A on my psp, but no games are working, show up as corrupt data.

Do I put them in psp/game ?, or do I make another folder?

Thanks, would greatly appreciate help.

Also, where would ps1 games go? Thanks.

PSP/GAME150

if the GAME150 folder doesn't exist, create it. Corrupt Data icons are normal. Although you can hide them via the recovery menu (hold R when booting up your PSP, then to configuration, and enable hide corrupt icons).

PS1 games go in the GAME folder.

I put it in the GAME150 folder, and it still didn't work, it had a Killzone Liberation demo in my 1 gig memstick, which worked, but when I try wipeout pure, on my 4gig, it doesn't work. Any ideas why?

Thanks for the reply btw.
