You could also try an older build of Firefox, earlier versions were much lighter on resource usage (1.5x ran fine on an old P3 450 MHz box here).

I have 1GB or 2GB of RAM. More than enough.

I have a Dual Core CPU in my PC, so it should handle Firefox.

I do have XP SP2 (Windows automatic updates disabled), so maybe the latest Firefox does terrible with older Windows?

not really.. i have automatic updates disabled too...

i find updates very annoying :) their of no real use either.. they eat your bandwith for no use whatsoever...
