New Nintendo Store App

The newly released Nintendo Store app shows playtimes from the 3DS and Wii U along with detailed play data such as first played, last played, and how long you played for each day. Is there any hope we could scrape this data to get 3DS and Wii U automatically tracked on the site?

Or scrape the data for Switch, I only joined this platform at the beginning of the year, but there are plenty of games not on my profile because they're too old to show up on the 20 most recently played games that Exophase uses. And I had a new console a couple years ago which reset many of my games' hours, whereas this new app shows playtime from ALL consoles, I really hope it's possible to scrape this data, it would be so much more accurate.

There was a discussion on the Discord about it and to echo what I posted there: it's not possible to scrape this data currently. The activity log in this app is viewable by the logged in user only, you cannot view information of other users or friends.

They actually had an app only available in Japan that showed the same data for awhile (since like 2022?), though it only worked on JP accounts. It seems like this is basically the same thing relaunched for worldwide.

Too bad, as the Wii U / 3DS activity would be a nice addition. The only way I see us being able to access the data is if they bring this same view over to the Switch itself (or Switch mobile app), since there you can look up users by friend code.

I mean there’s one other option I can think of, being letting us directly log into our Nintendo accounts, like you already can do with other platforms. But I doubt Nintendo even has the proper APIs for people to get that data securely without having to save all that personal info somewhere else and risk a data breach.

Yeah, wouldn't want to implement that unless there's a way of securely transmitting the credentials. The current login options we have don't collect any sensitive data, you login directly on Steam or Microsoft and it sends a token back to us that doesn't give full access to the account - only the areas we require access to.

If Nintendo offered similar then it could work, yes.

10 months later and Nintendo has saved us. Accurate playtime across all consoles now shows up on your Switch profile when you launch a game after the update. I tested it with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, before on Exophase I had 230 hours, now I have 390.

Still no 3DS or Wii U obviously, and you still need to redownload and launch old games for them to show up, but this is still a huge win.
