I believe in supporting the little guy as much as the next guy does and i support open source projects with auditable code. However, i am too dumb to understand code so I trust that others are doing the dirty work. maybe thats not a good idea. i dont need anyone telling me why thats not a good idea and the topic is beside that. so lets move on.
I would like to suggest new online networks that i found for "exophase" to add to gamers profiles so that we can display gameplay activity from sources that you may or may not have heard of. I am gonna list 3. however, only one actually has real gameplay tracking on your main profile when you sign up and start using their service its pretty wild that I even got it to work on my switch. But, I think I am mostly gonna use their fork of ryujinx
Now, this network is called Nextendo online I will provide the link so you can check them out for yourself: https://www.nextendo.network/#top they do not charge for their service and you get free cloud saves! which is a bonus over Nintendo if you're gonna use this on a modded switch and let's say you still have a Nintendo account. You might be looking at switching between servers which you'd want to do on an emmuc or whatever the long f*ck they call it. you guys who homebrew your switch know what I mean. now, I am a hater of all 3 except steam so, i hate Nintendo, Sony and xbox/microsoft. I am a Linux user and primarily a steam gamer. I use retroarch for classic games now or my other emulators. if i do so one day happen to want to play on my switch well, I can go play one of my cartridges.
I on the other hand shouldn't have to worry about getting my account banned if I stay full time on Nextendo servers. because I deactivated my nintendo account but thats a choice I made for myself. i wanted more user control and freedom. I also have a long history with nintendo by the way hundreds of purchases with them spanning across the 3ds, wii u and now switch and I wont be coming back for the switch 2. the switch is my last nintendo console. I am throwing all of that history away wilfully for user freedom. so, if you still keep your nintendo account you may be looking into switching servers often. but if you dont wanna risk account bans do like me and be the boss of your games! i made sure to back up my games first.
I will say i do have just one gripe with Nextendo Network that i would like to mention before suggesting them as a viable service for everyone because i plan on decativating my discord as well but one thing i dont like is that they do "Discord" verification. And if you dont do it you might get an error signing in on your switch. not sure how it impacts your ryujinx emulator but thats not gonna stop me from deactivating my discord account. i have bigger fish to fry. but I guess I would like to say is I'd like that this community pressures nextendo into removing Discord verification because lets be real its really stupid to have it in the first place. It forces people who may not want to use an app to use it. and thats not cool. pretendo doesn't do that so we already know that is not needed. so, if you care enough and you too would like to see nextendo display your gameplay on exophase please request support for nextendo on expohase and urge the nextendo team to remove discord verification. I dont need to remind everyone how stupid that system really is.
Pretendo: next i'd like to talk about pretendo. which has been around for longer than Nextendo. Most people in the modding scene probably already have heard of pretendo by now. but, i will provide the link anyway: https://pretendo.network/ Pretendo is an open source community driven alternative online network to the Nintendo Network. except they restore the old services only just for Nintendo's legacy consoles the 3DS and the Wii U and unlike Nextendo, unfortunately they do not currently track your gameplay. While they are further along in their development than Nextendo. they could add gameplay tracking for Wii U and 3DS games in the future which would be great for exophase to allow us to display our Wii U and 3DS gameplay activity on our profiles which would be pretty cool to show off for older consoles. so, I would like to request that if you care about seeing change come to exophase and if you want these features to happen please i urge you to request that Pretendo's development team reconsider gameplay activity logging so that way we can show this on our exophase profiles!
Brewtendo: not much going on here right now but I'll provide the link that they supplied me with in their discord where you can ask them for further questions: https://brewtendo.org/ brewtendo's vision seems to be only to revise the 3ds eshop to its former visual glory and they could expand on this in areas where pretendo doesn't I am providing the links to all the as options for your investigative research so you can look into these projects on your own time. I think these places would be great projects for community drive open source online gaming network alternatives to Nintendo who is against modding and who is very anti consumer in their practices. I would like to see some changes in the future in the areas that I mentioned above. Like: nextendo removing discord verification which is obviously stupid and we all know it. don't know why it needs to be there because it doesnt. but other then that its a pretty cool service option that can be better than using nintendo and I'd love to use them to display my gameplay on my profile as well as Pretendo and brewtendo if they develop more features. once again if you care please suggest these changes to these specific groups.
