[RELEASE] 5.03 TIFF Hello World

Hello everybody! I am a noob x 100 when it comes to the PSP 3000. I bought this lovely item before Christmas thinking that we would be able to use custom firmware. It's now april and i'm about ready to toss it and head over to the DSi realm. Seeing this thread could be a good thing. If this works does it only allow homebrew games or will be allow us to load custom firmware kind of like the gripshift exploit? Please let me know.. I really really would love to play some free non-umd games sometime soon. Thank you and have a nice day!

For now, it does nothin. But matiaz says to have exploit ready for S&L/3000 in a few days, meaning it would either get u to 1.5(downgrader), make u use homebrew (HEN). For now only matiaz and maybe some other people now.

A question from another noob:
Why might this exploit give us a HEN or a downgrader and the Gripshift Exploit did not?
What is the difference?
 
Ooo... I would be happy just running HEN and having to start it everytime when the PSP boots up. So, will this tiff hello world become more stable later down the road or will it always be hit or miss when you start it up? Has somebody already created a usable HEN loading program other than what PSPgen flaunted awhile back ago? I'm being nice and guessing give it at least another month before possibly seeing something usable? Sorry for all these noobish questions, thanks and have a nice day!

I'm not in the know as far as the specifics but the fact that there's previously been a version of HEN built for an earlier TIFF exploit it would certainly suggest a much easier time developing against this new exploit.

The gripshift did give us HEN right? I thought they didn't want to release it until this exploit could be repeated if Sony decided to add firmware updates. I would of been happy a long time ago with that gripshift exploit.. but they wanted to make sure that this can be a permanent way to get HEN working... right?

Right. Now that you mention it I remember reading about that; still not sure what really happened what with all the rumors that come about sometimes. Since this exploit isn't tied to a game it will hopefully turn out to be a godsend at least for those who have 5.03 firmware.

Yes, they managed to get CFW running etc but due to an argument about something the dev didnt want to release it!! the bastard...

I definitely told FreePlay that it was not a good idea to release a POC for this, so you go ahead and do it anyway, MaTiAz. Watch: we won't have a kmode exploit and this thing will end up being wasted anyway. Bravo.

Were you planning on using the trick Fanjita and I came up with in this, too? And just not crediting us? Because I hear FreePlay worked on this too, etc. etc.

Okay, I'm just a little bitter at this right now. I looked at the thing and I see what makes it tick, but I'm still expecting a 5.04 before we get anything useful out of this.

The trick I used in the 4.xx exploit (which I never released expressly because of this trick!) should not be taken lightly. I would only use if it you have a kmode exploit to use it in conjunction with!

Also: Apex, stop talking about things you don't know about. The reason that the HEN was never released is because that kmode exploit is used internally, and if it were patched, it would significantly hinder the progress of CFW on everything, so it's much better that the HEN was never released.

E] I see you intentionally just left out the list of credits entirely in the readme...that's...um...not how credits are supposed to work.

The way MaTiAz done it, would of been the same way I would of done it. No need to write up a huge list but however, the way he done it is short and sweet.

If I were trying to make drama, you would know. I have been having an independent dialog with FreePlay for a few days, and unless he was lying to me, you'll see in a few days why I'm bitter.

As for that last sentence...now who's trying to make drama?
