The Pacific: From the makers of Band of Brothers

Brad

Yoshimi
It is similar, although unrelated, to Band of Brothers. Whereas Band of Brothers focused on the United States Army's involvement in the European Theater of Operations, the new series will be about United States Marine Corps's actions in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

I'm surprised I just heard about this new series. Just like Band of Brothers it will be 10 episodes.

Release: Sunday, March 14, 9PM First Ep (USA and Canada) - HBO

I've been looking forward to this for over a year.

As I've mentioned in the past, I just need to get past the fact that the kid from the first Jurassic Park is going to play a major character in this.

I was watching a re-air of Band of Brothers and just randomly decided to look at the wiki page of it and found out about this gem.

March 14, 2010. For the US and Canada

Coming up

I'm definitely watching it. Can't wait :D

First one was spectacular. Seems to be moving allot faster then Band of Brothers did but can't accurately say that yet. For those that missed it you can find it "around".

Great visuals

I could do without the back story of some characters prior to going to war, but it was pretty decent. I wouldn't say great yet, but that night scene where the Navy got demolished and the other night scene where they fought over Alligator Creek was solid.

I definitely need to download the first episode, I'm so excited. I think my expectations might be so high that I am bound to be let down some way or another. However, the trailers and such look fantastic so I've no discrepancies yet!

I was just talking with an old timer in my office who ordered HBO just for this series and then is going to cancel it. He appreciates the fact that these stories are being told because he said he read somewhere today that the soldiers who were in WWII are dying at some rate like 1000 per day.

I'm also interested in this because I know less about the Pacific Theater than the European one.

Ditto Mr.Froe most movies and documentaries I've seen have mostly been based within the European theater. [BLACKOUT]Sorta had the Omaha beach image in my head when they were landing. Expected a huge cluster fuck beach battle again. Caught me off guard but not in a negative way or anything.[/BLACKOUT]

Just watched the first episode and it looks like the series will be amazing. I'm not sure any of the actors really stand out yet, like almost all did in BoB, but I'm keeping an open mind.

[BLACKOUT]I found the part of the episode where the Japanese soldier was standing in the river being shot like a fairground target quite haunting. Reminds me of the episode of BoB where they discover the concentration camp, it took me a good day or two to really get my head around that.[/BLACKOUT]
