Are you running a theme? If you are, turn it off and try again. Also make sure you're not running firmware 5.50. If you are, the exploit and HEN will not work.

what people want to know is, what do we do with the hen-fixed file?. do we rename it to h.bin? or what?

I have a PSP 2004 with 5.03 Firmware and its just not working for me. I even tried with new h.bin still it just freezes for about 10secs and shuts down.
FYI its with TA-88v3 mobo

Replace the old file with the new h.bin file.

Are you using the ChickHEN folder from the slim folder? You can't use it from the phat folder.

It's compatible with both, to a point. On some PSPs it just refuses to work for whatever reason.

ok, i'm strating to get nervous. my psp seriously needs some shaking. can't get the HEN to run, just crashes when i open the chickhen file. i already updated to 5.03. any tips??
