What's your fav sports team?

Let me add "because of that incident" to that post and ill agree wholeheartedly.

What he did actually made me respect him alot, he didn't take shit, and like they said in ESPN later, players go through so much heat and they dont do anything, so you gotta understand when he gets mad after someone takes a cheap shot at him.

And plus its Artest.

You have a point, this might be why I like him so much. Dude was unfairly prosecuted in my eyes. I just see him as a competative dude who wants to win. He just played a heated, hard fought game, and some dude threw a cup of water at him... I defy anybody to not react the way he did.

I think he just looks like he cares a lot more in a league filled with complacent millionaires.

Your team played just as good with out Yao, and that was 100% because of two things. LA's complete inability to defend guards, and Ron Artest. He shoots a lot of bad shots, but there isn't a superstar in the league that doesn't.

I cringe every time Lebron takes a three pointer... That's how the NBA works.

And thats one of the biggest things i hate about having Yao, is when we have him, we rely so heavily on him that when they actually cover him well, we're screwed down tight, and we don't look to capable others.

And like you said, it wasn't just Artest during that time, Brooks began to light up, and so did Scola on some occasions. Im not belittling Artest's contribution to the team, im giving the team more credit than its given in this circumstance.

And yeah i get that much, but at the same time, he's not a superstar, he's damn near with his toughness and defense, but he's just not at the caliber of them, so when he starts to act like one, thats when things get real hairy, because he's got nights where, like you said, he'll put up an easy 25, but then you have nights where he puts up 16 points, with 20+ shots attempted. But to be fair, most of his misses during those nights involve 1 for 6 3p attempts.

I think that's what draws alot of his toughness, he drives for it. He really, and sometimes literally, fights for the win. I give him that, he's got a good heart. And i can bet alot of the refs respect him too, or are afraid of him, otherwise they wouldn't let him do alot of the shit he does to get to the basket.

but really guys ariza for a artest = lakers lost
sure artest is tough but thats the only thing hes got agnst ariza yea sure bigger balls but ariza fought for every play harder and artest and ariza kept his mouth shut plus the numbers im a big number guy.

Ariza for Artest may have been better in the long run for the Rockets, but for now, Artest to the Lakers gives them such a bigger impact than Ariza ever did. I can see them winning a championship while he's there.

LA Dodgers, Philadelphia Eagles, and LA Lakers

I love all my favorite teams equally.

Oh and Artest is a gain over Ariza. Kobe and Co. will be sure to keep Artest in check and Artest already mentioned he "needs a ring", which will add more to his motivation especially since he already admitted to acting childish and wants to just win now. He knows he is getting up there in age. Good luck to Ariza.

Dodgers going to the World Series this year >.< Can't wait!

Lakers are the team to beat, and if they can resign Odom and keep Artest and Kobe happy, this team can repeat with the amount of talent they have.

And now guess whose the toughest Laker.

PAU GASOL. Correct?!
lol. Artest is the toughest laker now then Lamar Odom and Kobe Brayant. I just want to see how Artest and Kobe play this year, Artest needs to know this is Kobe's team. Oh, and can't wait to see "LA" shaved on Artest's head. Dope.

Man, Houston isn't going to be a playoff team this year, maybe 8th seed if they get lucky breaks from the other teams.
With Tracy gone for most of the season, Artest being traded away, and Yao maybe being gone the whole season. I don't see how the team can go far with Aaron Brooks leading the way. Sure, he did good against the Lakers, but Derek Fisher was too old to keep up the youngster.

I would say that they are indeed, a team to beat, but there are some pretty good teams that have stocked up too. Cavaliers and Celtics, got that much better, i can see Orlando playing alot better with Vince and the good sophomore they got (Anderson i think was his name) to back up Rashard, and not to mention the Spurs if they keep healthy with Richard Jefferson, Antonio McDyess, and the 2nd Round Steal they got in Dejuan Blair. Lakers are up there with them, but i don't see it as a one sided battle, no where near. Itll be a fun season to watch.

And yeah, sadly i can't see the Rockets getting too far this year, but ill still be rooting for them. Hopefully this'll be a good year to learn from with having no all-stars to depend on. The biggest problem is that the Rockets need a center, both as a backup for Yao if he comes back kicking, and as a current one to use.

I can see us getting into the playoffs, but not too far, just too many odds against us.

And Brooks can get it done against most point guards, hes got alot of speed, and not just against ones like Derek Fisher. On the other hand though, id like to see him play some more pure point, instead of a shooting point guard, but we'll see how it is.

I see Orlando kicking themselves in the ass for letting Courtney Lee go. He was a promising rookie and they traded youth for age. Vince is a great player no doubt, but Orlando could have stayed fresh and young.

Cavs really are over-rated, especially Mo Williams. He is an average player who was treated like an All-Star. LeBron had to literally carry the Cavs in the playoffs. They depended too much on them, and when the team completely gave up, they gave the ball to LeBron for 5 minutes straight. Shaq needs to have a good season this year too.

Spurs are dangerous if they stay healthy and they worry me. Almost every team in the Western Conference is good enough to make the playoffs... Too bad I can't say that about the Eastern Conference.
Celtics
Cavs
Magic
Those 3 teams are the ones that dominate that league. The other teams make it into the playoffs because they don't lose as much as the bottom part of the league.
