Tried with my OFW 6.20 PSP-1XXX, using 5.00 index_01g.dat RSOD, using 6.00 OK. Still a bit worry to try this with my PSP-3XXX 5.03 GEN-B (Full) to "clean it up"

tbh dude, its kinda clear you just want ISOs and not real hb :p

And, of course its possible to downgrade from 5.50, or run a HEN on it, but another kmode exploit will need to be used with it on either Mercury or MOHH. There are already a few that are patched in 6.xx, they just need to be implemented.

How the heck did you downgrade psp 3k?
with davee, pspgen, and Raiden1996's help.

---------- Post added at 01:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:19 AM ----------

I was thinking... By using whatever method that could be used to read/edit the index.dat, would it be possible to re-arrange the order of entries in the 5.00(or greater) index.dat to make it compatible with 6.xx firmwares?

There'd be really no point. To do that, you'd need Kmode access, and with that, there's no reason to downgrade, since GEN is working on 6.XX anyway.

In my oppinion a downgrader from 6.xx to 5.03 would be much better then a HEN, so we wouldn't have to run a game sploit everytime. But yeah, since we don't have any kernel mode exploit for 6.xx firmware it's impossible for now.

so given kernel mode on 6.xx, is it really safe to downgrade a 6.xx psp3k to 5.03? is there any documentation around? did anybody tried downgrading a psp3000 besides insane?

Yeah, I downgraded a 3k via patching the index.dat checks. Although I think the encryption has changed in the new firmware.

Through unofficial software.

well youz need to make a HEN for 6.20 becuz I wants you to, else imma be RAGGEEEE!

:D

[STRIKE]On a serious note, have you devs been able to get kmode access to 6XX yet?[/STRIKE]

Actually, I'm going to go ahead and say no, because even if you did, I wouldn't want you to state that here.

They've already made HEN for 6.20 and it even works on pspgo but they decided not to release it due to piracy issues..

Just curious.. Is it possible to downgrade a PSPGO to lower firmware?

I don't think so, afaik it would be like trying to downgrade the slim to 1.50, importent hardware modules would be missing and if it worked, a huge part of the software would't work anymore (e.g. the savestate feature).

Depends on what FW the PSP is on. If you have 6.xx on your GO you could (in theory) go down to 6.00 or as low as 5.70.

It seems that without modification(improvement?) the xgen updater cannot install ofw to a 3000 and if anyone tries the method I used to downgrade, first backup your psp's index.dat. After replacing your index.dat do not exit the gen cfw, immediately run the ofw update(know what the lowest firmware your revision of psp is capable of accepting) from gen. This way if you get a red screen of death do not do anything other than press select to go into the vsh menu/recovery and enable usb access to flash 0 then reinsert the 5.03 index.dat to the correct folder and reboot the psp. This might allow you to save your psp. I just want to say that for most people, downgrading a psp3000 or non Pandora-able 2000 is kinda pointless at this time.
