PSPgo Launched to Test Market for Digital Goods

Nice experiment though, I like the PSPgo and have no problem with digital distribution (am I ahead of my time? xD)

Anyway, so it's kinda certain there will be no N2000 PSPgo, no "PSPgo Slim&Lite", eh? ;)

Definitely think your ahead of your time, I think that was the first time I heard anyone say they had no problem with digital distribution. Hope your right about that N2000, lol, A PSPgo slim sounds like the kind of thing that would haunt my dreams.

I might consider getting a PSPgo, I'm assuming after E3 there might be a considerable price drop. It's mainly the price that's pushing me away from the go.

Yeah, actually I tend to missplace and never find again my physical media all the time.... can't happen to downloads xD

I snagged a GO from one of the many times where it was sold for (quite) less....

The cake is a lie.

It probably was an experiment to begin with (like they toyed with the idea), got the OK for everything (the long process) then, like everything else, had to come up with an excuse, so they were just like "it was an experiment. hax."

I dont think what was wrong with the PSP Go! was the hardware or digital distribution (I think it's great). What was wrong was that not all games that are available on UMD are available online. If they ever try anything like this again (and the world is moving towards digital distribution - take steam as a success for example), they need to ensure that people are not disadvantaged by the choice of games.

The one and only problem with the PSPgo is/was it's pricing. It's worth $160 tops, even though its controls are great, battery life is the same, it still comes with that sucky slow wireless that makes it impossible to download big games off the store on it. I always use MediaGo, tbh. Also, it's piracy proof which makes most people not buy it when they have the hackable 3000 on the shelf.

Didn't you make that video of a 6.10 HEN running on the PSPgo? I know, obviously because Davee is behind that hack that it's not meant for piracy, but if a door can be opened for homebrew, it can also be opened for piracy.

So i'm guessing the other two people were test? :p lol
From my understanding pspgo only sold good in Japan.

Yes, but it's not going to be released.

Well it was a flawed test. The experiment was likely unsuccessful due to the PSPgo's exorbitant price, not the fact that it was digital-only.

I'm aware of that, just making a point that it must not be piracy proof, while also being a smart ass.

To answer your question, I highly doubt that there are devs willing to do such a thing, because everyone knows pirates and copy/paste kiddos can't code shit. So unless another D_A comes along, the PSPgo *will* be piracy proof.

"Piracy Proof" and "just no one does it" are two quite different things IMO....

The PSPgo is a lot.... but not piracy proof.

I thought this was obvious? Personally, I don't know WHY Sony was so unsure about digital distribution, since the most commercially successful platform (iOS) was 100% digital, but it was obvious the PSPgo wasn't a long term solution. Nintendo could release a stopgap (DSi) to test the waters, because they're so far ahead with the DS, but Sony should have cut their losses, and went all in with the PSP2. Now Apple is even further ahead, and the DS2 is right on the horizon.

When the hell did Sony become the slow moving curmudgeon of the industry? Some of their decisions the last 5-6 years have just been mind boggling. They are to gaming what Microsoft has become to... Well, everything except gaming. Reactionary, and not proactive.

i think what helps with the iphone/itouch digital distribution, is games arn't a few 100 megs big, their at most maybe 50-100megs, and 95% are 1-5mb's, so getting a game doesn't take several hours on even bad connections, as well as the fact that the market of games/apps for the iphone is extremly large, where's most other digital stores like the PSN simply don't have a huge selection to choose from, also most games arn't games u invest to play for 5-10mins, but for a few hours, where's on the iphone/touch i can feel more justified spending 0.99$ for a game i might play every now and then and only for a few minutes when i do
