13 is out in Japan, 1mil sales on day one.

14 was announced back at E3...

Square wants to go up against WoW with XIV... But then again, that's what all MMO want to do but fail at.

If FFXIV goes beyond the standard fetch this item quests that plague most MMOs then it might be one I can get into. This is something that puts me off from MMOs. They work hard to create a complex, dynamic world and then belittle it with simple gameplay.
