Have you got the revised version? for the slim

What this does?! Its proof of concept that a gap/flaw in the security is present and this can allow a whole range of options. The simple text screen while small in itself proves that theory. Today a screen of text, tommorrow a d/ger, a HEN, or devhook style tool these things are perhaps a bit of an ask at this point, but you see my point.

This is a big deal, particulary if you got a 3000. Big thanks to all involved :laugh:

But Davee is reporting that he's found an exploit granting kernal mode acess , that would make two along with the one DaX has his hands on (unless they are identical) . Now that we have two kernal mode exploits kept some where in secret , I think it makes sense that one of them will be used to make a downgrader for the newer PSP models.

I have a feeling that the next few days / weeks will be very interesting for newer PSP owners waiting to jump into homebrew bliss . But at the same time don't get expect too much , there might very well be no real progress a month from now.

edit : My knowledge of the PSP architecture and exploits is relativley little so there may be some incorrect information in my post.

Sweet, can't wait for a version for the 3k. But i have a question: why won't the slim hack work on the 3k if it works on the Ta88v3 slim?
 
Hi All,

I'm new here. Bought my son a PSP in August '08 and found out too late that it was a TA88v3. So we have been waiting along time for something like this. Although we understand it is a start and may take some time.

This is like a little hole in the wall of a dam. Eventually the whole dam is going to fall !!!

well, does it work on a ofw 4.01? because i tried it out a couple of times and still it doesn't show the hello world screen. i also tried to restore the default settings, it just hangs for a couple of seconds then shuts down. i'm sure i did everything as instructed. Help please?!?!:(
 
The exploit was designed for 5.00 and up. So upgrade, and it should work.

if the exploit doesn't work try an other batery..

I had a battery and tried 20 times, didn't work..

then i tried a different battery first time it already worked :D

Download this, and place the EBOOT.PBP file into your UPDATE folder, which should be in the PSP/GAME folder. Basically, it should look like this: PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP. After that just run it through the game menu.
 
wait, umm before i upgrade, i just want to know the difference of 4.01 with 5.00. can this have an effect when a downgrader is released for 4.01?? or none since they have the same motherboard ta88v3? thanks for the quick reply Adiuvo, really appreciate it.
 
If there is a downgrader for 4.01, chances are the same one wouldn't work. Either way, until an actual downgrader it released for this, you shouldn't bother upgrading unless you really want the features 5.00 offers (just a Playstation Store).

Also, the exploit doesn't always work the first few times. It may work on 4.01, I'm not really sure, but if it does then it still would behave the same as if your PSP is on a higher firmware; ie, it would take multiple times to get it started, text would be displayed, etc..

So basically, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't bother upgrading. It's not really worth it at this point since there is really anything you can DO with the exploit yet, as it's just a PoC.

Sorry for another 2 questions, I read from a certain site that if ever a downgrader is made for a version 4.01, it still would not be able to play homebrew games because the slim version only downgrades up to 3.6 and that version does not support homebrew. is this true???

Do you mean there really is no hope for 4.01 to play homebrew games??
 
First thanks to all the guys working on this exploit.

All of you seem to forget one thing. Hellcat allready has created a downgrader which just needs HEN to run. (Recovery Flasher)

This means every PSP until TA 88v3 can be set up to a CFW if this exploit leads to HEN or a Kernelmode.

EDIT: Tiff exploit worked on TA 81 5.00m33-4 after about .. 70 times

I'm pretty sure you could just use Pandora to get onto custom firmware. I don't think the newer TA mobos were introduced until after 4.01ofw.
