3.40 OE-A Install Guide

In simple terms, setting the kernel to either 3.40 or 1.50 will decide where you place your homebrew.

If your kernel is set to 3.40, homebrew goes in the X:/PSP/GAME150 folder and regular stuff (let's say game demos) goes in the X:/PSP/GAME folder.

On the other hand if the kernel is set to 1.50 you can place your homebrew in the X:/PSP/GAME folder. Game demos would then have to be placed in the ms0:/PSP/GAME340 folder.

BTW if you don't have these folders and want to transfer over homebrew apps, just create them.
 
Thanks for the quick reply. Still a little confused. Do I still have to check what my kernel is set to before flashing? Or do I simply follow your guide and since my psp has OE firmware place the files in the X:/PSP/GAME150 directory? The guy said it has "PSP Firmware = 3.02 OE-A / 1.50" so does this mean the kernel is already set to 1.5 :S

Nope... just place the files in the X:/PSP/GAME150 directory as the guide says to.
 
I'm trying to play snes and sega emulator but it keeps giving me the 8002014c error. (this is after i installed 3.40 OE-A. ) How do i get them to work? Do i have to downgrade to 1.5 everytime i want to play? or is there a setting that i need to put in when i press "R" at the starts up. thank for the help. Im somewhat of a noob so bear with me.

ps... i posted this exact question in another topic but the last time someone replied on that one was about a month ago. sorry for the duplicate.
 
Thanks x3sphere just updated went fine, the only step I was a little nervous about was when it says "Copy the DATA.DXAR created in step 3 to the 340oeflasher folder." I first just cut and pasted it into the folder but went back and copied an extra copy just in case I guess it doesn't really matter?

There's a list/guide to emulators somewhere around here, probably in the FAQs 'n' Guides section. Get on 'em and go nuts! :thumbup1:
 
Probably should start a new thread. But its semi-related to this firmware. Just ran an iso and when loading the videos and sound 'jitter' I heard with this firmware you can 'overclock' to 333mhz. Would this sort my problem or is there another way?

Yah, you should just clock your speed up to 333mhz. It's NOT overclocking, because this is actually what the PSP ran all the time before, uh, FW v2.0 or something. To do it you have to completely shut the PSP down by holdin' the power button, then when you turn it on hold the R button 'til the 'recovery' menu appears. Go to the 'CPU Speed' submenu and set your 'Speed in UMD/ISO' to whatever you think will work, I personally prefer 300, just so it doesn't run the battery down quite as fast, and it gets the job done. That's just my personal preference, though. But the problem could also be a slow memstick, there are various ways to improve that, such as reformatting, defragging, formatting with different sized file clusters, and, of course, buying a fast memstick:p. If you have a Sandisk, though, then it's not the memstick's speed, it's the CPU clock speed.

You can't, there is no DS emulator for the PSP, and probably won't be for quite some time, if ever.
