i've tried for years on psp1k,2k,3k with fw5.03 but never seen the hw...and 5 memory sticks were tested...any idea..?

Hi U3-Robot, thanks for your help, I have extracted the files to the root of my psp mem stick folder, still the same problem the psp freezes whilst opening the pics & shuts down, Iam quite confused....

Its me again U3-Robot, I managed to get it working, the problem was I was using a fake memory stick, I tried an original one & the exploit works perfectly,

Hi All,

Have been reading some of the posts here and realised that there are quite a number of people like me who are not that familiar with the various ways on how to install CFW on a PSP. It would be fantastic if the experts can provide a table or diagram showing the steps or roadmap on what are the various methods and what are the possibilities with each method/step. Possibly starting with the various types of exploits leading to HENs, Loaders, etc.

I know it won't be easy, but with a diagram it sure makes things clearer and easier understand.

If the above is already available somewhere, please provide the link then.

Keep up the good work, all you developers.

Read somewhere that it is more to do with the speed of the memory stick than being a fake per se.

Yes another thing i noticed is that when i transferred the files to the fake card i have it took longer to transfer than when i used an original card, so I think it does affect the exploit however it seems that the exploit does not run well when using a fake card. I wont be buying them from ebay again....

What do you mean using word FAKE?

The memory stick isn't an original sony memory stick but an imitation, I bought one from ebay, to verify if your memory stick is original or not, you can check from your PSP by going on the properties of your memory stick & see whether magicgate is supported or not. If magicgate is supported the stick is original if not then you have an imitation. Fake or imitation memory sticks tend to give errors when transferring a large file or display the incorrect capacity . The transfer speed of data is also slower than an original.

I have the version ofw 5.02
Perhaps because of this that does not work for me?

This is just what happens while I browse photos
PSP stuck for several seconds and then shut off.

This is what was happening to me if you read a few previous posts of mine, the problem was that my memory stick was an imitation & not an original Sony memory stick therefore it seems that it could cause some issues when trying to run the exploit. You can check from your PSP by going on the properties of your memory stick & see whether magicgate is supported or not. this exploit not working bay fake memory cards?

well I actually have 2 Sony memory cards one is an imitation & the other is an original, as I have stated before you will notice if they are fake or not through magicgate support...

When i tried to run the exploit using an imitation card the exploit just froze my PSP and it shut down, but when i run the exploit using an original card it works perfectly

I bought the fake card from ebay....

I have a memory card SANDISK
Thanks, I will review

I checked and it supported So what could be the problem?

Iam quite new in this field but you might try U3-Robots post here & see if it works, always back up any files such as music or photos or saved game data before formatting other wise you will lose everything....

same problem here...
with brite and fw 5.02

EDIT: also sandisk ms, 512mb, magicgate supported

Exploit works on MG supported sandisk cards. I confirm that...
But mine 1GB

My system and method:
2004 88v3
5.02

- Put the correct h.bin file to ms root folder.
- Make sure that root "PICTURE" folder is empty. Use "PSP/PHOTOS" folder.
- Put random 8 jpeg files and slim.tiff file.
- Rename jpeg files to A.jpg, B.jpg, C.jpg, ... ,H.jpg
- Completely power down your psp. (hold power button, no hibernate)
- Restart your psp.
- Go to "Photo > Memory Stick".
- Look at thumbnails, slowly press down...

Remember to this is very unstable. It may locked your device or exploit works. Try more times. Good Luck!

I have a PSP-2004 with 5.03 OFW. The instructions say to copy the slim.tiff to /PSP/PHOTO. That folder doesn't exist for me. For me, pictures go to /PICTURES/. If I create the /PSP/PHOTO folder, in the PHOTO menu all the folders in the root of the PSP appear (MP_ROOT, PSP, MUSIC, VIDEO, ...), but I can't get to slim.tiff. If I just put it in /PICTURES/ it just crashes, doesn't load h.bin.. I'll keep trying though.

Maybe it's because I have the European version?
