Ok, I have a question that is probably as old as rocks. But ive noticed that when you click on your name on most vBulletin forums I always get a 404. Now can anyone tell me why every single forum has the same problem? Is it impossible to fix, or do people just not use it that often? This has pissed me off for to long, and it is my new destiny to find a reason! Lol.

Where do you get that from? I've never seen it.

I think Ive figured out what causes it. When ever I click on it in a link or something, FF changes the addy to http://forums.mformature.net/222 and gives me the 404. But if i type it in the address bar and hit enter it works! So I think the cause is this plugin I have for FF that changes certain sites URL's so that when I click on images it skips the ad page. So I think for some reason its changing the URL on here to try and get to the source image, but there isnt one. I see if it has an exclusion list, that mite work.

A ha! Its my greasemonkey script! Now to try and fix it... Its weird that all this time I thought the devs were lazy and never fixed it.

I think the logo at the top should say "Gaming Community Forums" as to avoid confusion as to what these forums are all about.

I think the biggest thing turning people off is "mformature" which is really sort of misleading tbh.

Might I also add that mformature.com
is some kind of lame bought domain for porn...

I have to agree with Slasher, last time i typed mformature.COM by accident and brought me to an adult site, luckily i wasnt at college at the time lol.

Nothing they can do about a domain they don't own.

Well they could have bought mformature.com before it was bought as a porn site. But really, that's not what we're discussing

I think that even on the front page if on the banner they put "Gaming Community", that would distinguish it enough

mformature.com was already taken.

As for the "Gaming Community" idea, I don't really feel as if that is all we are. While some of us may be gamers, clearly some of us are into consumer electronics too. M for Mature is going to be so much more than a gaming site and community. We're just still busy working on it.

We should stick "beta" on the banner so that people stop thinking this is the finished product.

We've used the meta description/keywords in an effort to clearly distinguish what we do (which is technically more than gaming). The descriptions are typically included in search hits.

I assume that the .com domain name purchase had been recent because I recall it being up for sale when we first started looking into things. As I recall he wanted a premium for the name and I seem to remember it was previously associated with a WoW discussion site.

Yeah that's correct. We decided to hold off on buying it because he wanted a premium for it and until we know how successful we'll be there's no point spending that much.

I would still pretty much label this site as a "Gaming Community" able to discuss all areas and walks of life including an interest in computers, art, mobile devices, and intelligent discussions.

I mean, just look at the front page. Every single article is gaming-related.

If things seriously change dramatically then I can understand the hold off

Mformature.com isn't much of a porn site anymore. It has the standard "Don't enter if you're under 18" type stuff on it but it doesn't like anywhere thereafter. It'll lead you to one of those places where you see a picture an based on the keywords in the URL it'll give you links to click for searches on some unnamed search engine.

Who cares what the extension is. Just bookmark the site then you never have to worry about a .net or a .com. Plus the net makes it more original, .com is overused, lol.

That's because right now we haven't started working on any other articles, I personally am going to write up a few consumer electronic articles when I get the time, which is not now
